The care of leather collars and leads

Please note that vegetable tanned leather has an open structure and will change colour when exposed to sunlight. Heavy rain showers may create spots on the leather also.

It is important to treat full grain leather with leather conditioner every now and then. Especially living in a warm or humid environment. Leather moisturiser will avoid the leather from drying out and will keep it supple.

My advise is to use your products to the fullest everyday. I believe marking created by the sun, rain, dirt, grease and natural wear make your item a unique and personal item. If treated with care your product will age beautifully.

Keeping your leather dog collar in the best condition is easy if you clean it every now and then. Our leather products are made of beautiful leathers and with little care they can last a lifetime.

To keep your leather dog collar at its best I recommend the following:

  • Gently clean with a soft cloth and clean with a leather cleaning product. Afterwards always apply a caring balm or grease. (Test this on an inconspicuous place of your product first)
  • If the collar becomes muddy, then clean with a soft damp cloth and allow to dry naturally, stay away from direct heat. Remove the collar if your dog is playing rough, swimming in the sea or scratching excessively. If the collar does go in the sea make sure to rinse with cold water and follow the same steps advised above.

All my hardware is made from brass and can be polished with a brass cleaning solution, please be cautious not to get this on the leather as it will mark, you can remove most marks with cleaning tips as advised above.

The care of all weather range

This range is made from Biothane which is very durable and works well in all environments.

To keep your all weather at its best I recommend the following:

  • Remove any dirt or marks by washing in warm soapy water. The product can withstand gentle scrubbing (nothing too abrasive). Then dry off with a towel and you are ready to go.
